Lieutenant Douglas Knowlton

Tolland County Mutual Aid Fire Service remembers Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Lieutenant Douglas A. Knowlton.

On April 1, 2019, at approximately 1630hrs, Lieutenant Knowlton was manning a road block at Jones Hollow Road and West Road, keeping the public safe and crews safe while they worked to mitigate a tractor trailer that had become entangled in low hanging communication wires. Directly upon returning home Lieutenant Knowlton collapsed unexpectedly.

Lieutenant Knowlton was an active member of the Marlborough community. He became an EMT and member of the Roy B. Pettengill Ambulance Association in 1985 and a member of the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Company in 1989. More recently, he served on the Board of Finance for Marlborough, including holding the position of chairman. The Town of Marlborough is indebted and very thankful for the many unselfish years Lieutenant Knowlton gave to the Marlborough community.

Lieutenant Knowlton was both an EMT and Firefighter, and had 34 years of service with the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department.
